Northampton International Academy To Welcome Even More Year 7 Pupils This September

Posted on: 09/04/2019

Northampton International Academy will increase its Year 7 intake this September, enabling even more pupils to benefit from the school’s fantastic teaching and facilities.

The school, which is part of the East Midlands Academy Trust, will welcome 360 new Year 7 pupils – an extra 60 children on its standard admission number – to help meet the need for additional school places in Northamptonshire.

An area within the school previously earmarked for commercial use will be transformed into teaching space, funded by Northamptonshire County Council, to accommodate the additional pupils.

Northampton International Academy, in Barrack Road, first opened in 2016 and moved into its new building in September 2018. The converted Royal Mail sorting office features 21st century teaching facilities, a 400-seat theatre, a four-court rooftop sports hall and specialist workshop and design classrooms.

Headteacher Tim Marston said: “We are delighted to be able to offer even more pupils the opportunity to come and learn with us here at Northampton International Academy.

“By working with the local authority, we are able to bring in an additional 60 Year 7 pupils this year and the same again next year – pupils who would otherwise be without a school place.

“We’re holding an open evening on May 23rd for families of Year 7 pupils joining us this September and I look forward to meeting our new students then.”
