Payroll and Pensions Officer

Salary: Grade 5 - £27,143 to £31,143

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week

We are currently recruiting for a payroll and pensions officer at East Midlands Academy Trust to support the central team and its seven schools.

The role involves working with the Finance and HR teams, providing payroll services for East Midlands Academy Trust academies including all processing on the group’s payroll, pensions administration and responsibility for all other payroll related requirements.

The role will provide high quality service to individuals and academies, and contribute to the long term development of the payroll function, providing effective and efficient output of work to meet the demands of the role and promote the core values of the Finance and Operations Team regarding excellence and professionalism.

The purpose of the role is as follows:

  • Set up of the payroll system.  Ensure the employees are set up on correctly, taking into account individuals’ terms, pensions, multiple roles etc. This includes ensuring the correct pay scales are applied and pension fund contributions identified.
  • Payroll reports to be submitted to stakeholders in a timely manner for checking and approval.
  • Ensure employees are paid on time and accurately.  Pension administration, including payments, reports to relevant bodies, auto enrolment, are all correctly processed and managed according to relevant deadlines.  This includes uploading files to HMRC and pension funds for RTI
  • Administer payments for, Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity Pay and Statutory Paternity Pay
  • Ensure manual and computerised records are accurately maintained in line with industry standard and legislative requirements, and act as the payroll and pension champion for the trust.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports as required
  • To assist HR when required such as gender pay
  • Any other tasks as deemed appropriate by Senior Management
  • Maintain absolute discretion and maturity in handling sensitive/confidential information
